Teachings and Discussion on Anishinaabe Protocols and Ceremonies
Elder Martina Osawamick
The session will include teachings and ceremonies conducted by Elder Martina on The Eagle Feather, sacred medicines and role of ceremony. The panel will examine Anishinaabe history, culture, traditions and their connections to the legal system. The Calls to Action (#27) called on the legal community to ensure that lawyers receive appropriate cultural competency training, including training in inter-cultured competency. The session will provide participants with a better understanding of the history, culture, laws and legal orders of the Anishinaabe who are part of our community.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in ceremony and to better understand the connection between indigenous protocols, legal practices and courts.
